NEW YORK

We arrived in NY at 1am, as you know and then... oh yeah... I forgot, had to queue for 45 mins to get a cab to Sophie's friend's place, Maryline and Ian, whom she met at the London Olympics. We were going to spend a week in real American NY, Harlem where you sure do here the loud voices, yoyo styles etc!

Our time in the BIG APPLE commenced....

DAY 1
- We joined a few of Maryline's friends to watch the France vs Germany game!... thankfully the score was only 0-1!!!

A big boot of beer!

Enjoying some German beverage

FlipFlop biscuits!

It was actually the 4th July, but as our lovely American neighbours only have very little holiday days, they usually make the most of the 4th July weekend to get out of the Big Apple! hence, the city was actually very quiet. There seems to be even more July the 4th decorations and celebrations in The Pays de Gex than in the area we were in that day! hahah
Anyhow, we went to an American diner, ate and then visited Chelsea Market.. very cute!
That night, Maryline invited friends at hers, we drank, ate and went out in Harlem in a cosy club that played pure African/ R&B music! great fun!

DAY 2

We toured Central Park and strolled in town!

Sophie & Ian

AGAIN

Ian, Soph and Maryline

Empire State Building

Time Square

NY Subway

Yuk... for those of you who have not yet tried the American brand chocolate, Hersheys... well I just don't recommend it!

That night, Sophie and I assisted to a live 'CSI Miami' style scene!
At 9.30pm on a Sunday evening, we suddenly hear 3 police vans rock up and see about 30 of them come and suddenly start racing up and down our street with torches in their hand, looking over fences, under cars, in tree tops etc for someone which it seemed they were eager to find! Well, 15 mins later, not much success and hence Mr Helicopter shows up for 25 mins of searching. Their strong projector/lights looking on every roof top and tree tops sent Sophie to hide in the kitchen area... an entire scenario built up in her head and the kitchen would be a safe place in case the fugitive were to brake into the flat (very unlikely) and hence Sophie would have access to something sharp in order to defend herself... My (Nat) line in all that was just..... 'Go to bed!'......

DAY 3

Nat went to a Harlem church and gees, it was exactly as in Forest Gump or The Help! Clapping, dancing, worshipping in a very active way!

We walked along the highline which is a garden that takes you along several areas in NY.. nice walk!

Crap Selfie or...1,5 Selfie

Yo Yo

We went to FAO Schwartz which is the toy shop where the guy in the film BIG discovers all the toys and big piano.. just having a go myself but thank goodness there is no sound attached to pictures ha

Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island (free) Ferry

We found a monkey on the boat

Freedom tower, as a replacement to the Twin Towers!

A little shopping... CHIC!
(Joke!... this is NOT my style!)

The Wall Street Bull

We also met up with one of Nat's classmates (Olivier Clerton) from 'CM2' i.e. when she was 10yrs old!
Funny how it always seems easier to meet on the more complicated side of the world haha!

Time square again

We stopped off at the InterContinental Time Square to have a glass of bubbly and catch up with an old colleague of Nat's from the InterContinental London Park Lane in London.

View from the Empire State Building

View from the Empire State Building with a 'Miniature' effect which makes it look like this is a mock up! in this and the next two pictures
... can you see it?

Macy's, the equivalent to Selfridges in UK.

I am sure a lot of you will understand what this relates to =)

Nat drinking Brooklyn Larger!

Us all at one of NY's Rooftop enjoying a few drinks

And we leave you with this...
