San Francisco - Head in the clouds

'GO USA, LET S SUPPORT OUR AMAZING TEAM, GO USA'
These are the words that the guy in the controls room was shouting down the mic of the underground station! Yep the Football world cup just brings everyone together... or apart (apologies for any Spaniards, English, or Italians reading this!) I (Nat) consider myself more French these days hahah!

San Fran! A term which I learnt yesterday, ONLY the tourists use as they think it's the cool way to say this city's name but apparently not! NO locals uses this nick name for this vibrant, hilly city!

Given we were staying here for one whole week, we booked a car via Relayrides (again) and booked a studio via AirBnb (again).. amazing these new systems! Yep! the big difference between AirBnb and hotels is that with AirBnb, the price does not inflate the closest you get to the check in date plus staying at locals, you make the most of great recommendations!
Our host Rebecca was amazing as she provided us with the best welcome and tips (little restaurants, where to go and which vineyards to pick in Napa Valley!

Rebecca and you know who!

So here we go:

DAY1

We lazed around, booked the remaining flights and accommodation till the end! updated the blog for you peops reading right now! and in the evening joined some of the people we were camping with and went to a GIANTS game to take in the real American feel of a baseball game! personally, I felt it was slightly 'slow motionish'... but then knowing how good (NOT) at understanding the rules of cricket.. it was kind of the same here... but hey, the Coors Light Beer and Hot Dogs were good =)

Nat ready to bat for the GIANTS!

DAY 2:

We set off to discover SF by ourselves! Pinched and followed the 'Big Bus' Map and downloaded podcasts (i.e. audio tape information for those who may not understand this term as they are not computer savvy!) on SF's history. A great sunny day ahead!

Hmmm sexy name for a Café! ( non French speakers, look up what 'Boudin' Means!)

Same train of thought!.. My mum always used to say that I did a 'Dog's Dinner' out of my food!
Well mum, officially for you 'A Doggie Diner!'

Soph in our little car in front of the Flower Conservatory!

The Golden Gate Bridge

This made me think of my mum and sister's everlasting love for birds and how they would LOVE (Sarcastic) to be sat at that table! haha

Soph enjoying oysters

Nat trying out a Tabasco chocolate! Gees it def has a kick to it!

Crazy many wiggling his bum bum in the streets!

DAY 3

Only one thing to say: NAPA VALLEY....... WINEEEEEEEEE...

We picked up our friends whom we 'd met during our camping tour and headed one hour north from SF to go and taste Californian wine. We had based our route on all the recommendations from our host, where we were staying!

1st stop: Saintsbury.. lovely morning start!

We stopped for lunch at 'The Girl & The Fig', lovely French place in Sonoma.

2nd Stop, afternoon: Domaine Carneros owned by the Taittinger family!
We had a tour as well as a tasting!

The Domaine Carneros was designed based on the Taittinger property in France.

We also stopped off in Yountville and enjoyed some French patisseries =)

The rest of the week

Typical SF houses

Grace Cathedral on California St. Mary and Alex used to attend this church in the 1960s.

Oh, and I forgot to say why this post is called 'Head in the clouds'... because living in Twin Peaks in SF, there was on a few mornings, the morning mist and hence we felt like our heads were in the clouds... =)
