Bali - Kuta

Here we are in Bali, we hadn't planed anything as we were supposed to go to the Philippines. Luckily, Sophie's friend Anya had been living in Bali since nearly six months and therefore told us to head to "Poppies 2" a street packed with cheap Guest Houses, lively bars, cafes and restaurants in Kuta. We ended up picking a place at the far end of an alley which offered a very spacious, air conditioned room which we though, oh well, that'll do for one night... and ended up staying for an entire week as we realised the location/price/quality that this place offered was great!

On our first night, Anya took us to a local place where Nat ate an entire fish and Soph had a Sea Food Platter, all of which cost us the equivalent of £3. We then realised that life in Bali was going to be even cheaper than Thailand! gees amazing, as we had planned at least 3 weeks in Bali.

Anya took us to 'Alleycats Bar'. A hidden place which serves double shots of vodka/redbul for 80p a shot. We had a couple, jumped on the back of Anya and a friend of her's scooter and headed to 'La Plancha', Kuta's once a month Beach Party! Great beats, Bintang beer (the local one) and lots of fun. At 2am we headed home. The next day, we met up with Jade and Mary and went surfing. Waves were great and we all managed to look like Kelly Slater, well maybe not, but I'm sure you can imagine the scene!

We just chilled in Kuta, making the most of the beach bars, bean bags, chilling on the beach, singing along with the locals playing guitar at sunset and drinking Bintang beer (for Nat, as sophie is slightly more refined and does not drink beer). One evening Anya invited us to her house. It was great to be "home" for some time and have just a simple meal... pasta, tomato sauce and wine.

Nous voici arrivees a Bali, sans avoir vraiment planife quoique ce soit vu qu'on devait allait aux Philippines... Par chance, Sophie a une amie qui habite depuis quelques mois a Bali. Elle nous a conseille une rue ou il y a beaucoup de maison d'hotes pas loin de la plage. Nous voila avec nos sacs a dos en route pour trouver un hotel pour la nuit, apres 2 essais peu concluants, on trouve enfin une maison d'hote dans une petite ruelle un peu sombre. Super chambre spacieuce et climatisation. Parfait pour la premiere nuit... sauf qu'on a decide d'y rester presqu'une semaine tellement on y etait bien ! Le soir meme de notre arrivee, nous avons vu Anya l'amie de Sophie qui nous a emmener manger dans un petit restaurant local qui ne payait pas de mine ... Mais alors qu'est-ce que c'etait bon !!! Et le pire... une panier de fruits de mer (crevettes, calamars, poisson entier, salade et frites fraiches) le tout pour 3£.... On a decouvert avec stupefaction qu'a Bali tout etait encore bien moins cher qu'en Thailande ! Tant mieux vu qu'on va y rester quelques semaines... Elle nous a ensuite emmene dans un bar remplie d'australiens et on a fini par une soiree sur la plage avec DJ !!! Pas mal pour une premiere soiree ! Le lendemain, on a decide d'aller visiter les alentours... mais alors quelle chaleur !! Le jour suivant, nos amies de Thailande nous on rejoint pour une session de surf, ici tout est specialement fait pour le surf, il y a tres peu de zones de baignade. Super temps, super vagues et nous voici debout sur nos planches !!! La nuit, Kuta se transforme en boite de nuit geante, bar, restaurants et clubs. Quelques jours plus tard, Anya nous a invite chez elle, super soiree et enfin une soiree a la maison, faire la cuisine ca nous manque trop !!!! Tout simplement quelques pates a la tomate, quelques olives et un verre de vin !!!
