The next two nights were all about sleeping close to airports to make sure that we would be on time and early enough to catch our flights, well those flights we actually wanted to catch, as the News were announcing a Super Typhoon, Haiyan, due to hit the Philippines and Manilla on the actual DAY we were flying to Manilla, so we were also keeping up to date with this possible change!
Our first “cut out of civilisation” night was spent in a Driving range. It was located very close to Krabi airport which was perfect for our 8.25am flight the next morning. We had read on a forum that the owner could drop us off in the morning, however to our surprise, the lady said it would cost us 200 Baht.. gees, we didn’t have any cash left (as we were leaving the country the next morning)… we started tipping out all the money we had from everywhere…. Purses, bag zips, pockets and finally got to a grand total of 199 baht… phew…. Very proud, we said to the lady we would not eat tonight but we had enough money for the taxi!... Sophie had a genius idea which was to ask whether we could have our breakfast (which was included in the rate) in the evening, so I asked and they said yes.
They always say “The best things in life are free”, well it’s true! We rocked up for our 8pm breakfast and they had cooked us a seafood fried rice with “a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg” (for those of you whom may have seen the latest USA MasterChef episode!!), a glass of fresh orange juice, a shot of milk and a coffee. The owners were really nice and the father gave us his dessert: slices of fresh watermelon and orange melon. Just about to go to sleep and I realised my “hand luggage” was infested with ants! A long line of ants, one behind the other, gently heading to have a bite of the biscuits that we had left in the front pocket! NOT a good idea.. I had to take everything out, clean and put all back in!. Very important rule which we have now seen applies everywhere we stay! Never leave open packets of food in one’s bag as ants WILL ATTACK.

Cut from Civilisation! #2 - 7th November
When we arrived in Kuala Lumpur, we had booked a "transit hotel", just for the day as we should have taken that flight to manilla. This hotel was definitely funky, but absolutely in the middle of nowhere, in an industrial estate!.
